1-800-Wheelchair opened in 1997 with a clear mission: to be a one-stop, full service medical supply company (DME). 1-800-Wheelchair works together with the patient, medical practitioner and insurance company to help the customer find the equipment that will allow them to live a better life. 1-800-Wheelchair client services will assess the patient's needs, work with their Medical practitioner and insurance companies, such as Medicare and Medicaid, deliver and set up the equipment.  In January 2000, 1-800-Wheelchair expanded their presence on the web by launching their website, www.1800wheelchair.com. 1800Wheelchair.com was the first on-line medical supply company of its kind; allowing customer to research and purchase medical supplies or apply for Medicare eligibility - all from the comfort of their home or office while maintaining a one-on-one customer service experience  1-800-Wheelchair's corporate office is located in New York City with distribution centers in New York and Chicago.  1-800-Wheelchair is the exclusive provider of wheelchairs and mobility aids to JetBlue Airways and maintains a partnership with Drugstore.com giving their customers access to 1-800-Wheelchair products and services.
